Ideas don’t fly unless you try…

Throughout the years different student engineers have pitched their ideas. Together as a team we have experimented, and created projects to test the practical viablility of new concepts.

Mwallow 1

Maciej from Imperial College wanted to test his idea of having a ducted helicopter. We wondered if the duct could alter the behaviour of the ring vortex problem. Perhaps it would allow the helicopter to descend in a faster and more vertical manner. The Mwallow faced issues with how to integrate the duct to a swash plate, and conventional helicopter control methods. Perhaps Fly-By Wire systems could provide the artificial stability that this design lacked.

DUCKv1 QuadCopter

Was the first attempt at Packaged Prototype to feature a digital 640x720 Camera and large capacity 5Ah Lithium Polymer Battery. It was used as a test bed to develop the SmartKite 1.1.2-1.2 autopilot ground control system.
